In 2017, employees received an 8% raise, and a new pay scale for pilots was ratified by the Allied Pilots Association (APA) Board of Directors, effective May 2, 2017.
This mid-contract raise occurred outside of Section 6 negotiations.
The fleet renewal also saw the delivery of 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft between 2017 and 2022, with an additional 60 options for 2020–2025.
Similarly, American ordered 130 A320neo family aircraft for 2017–2022, with 280 additional options.
